Defense and Security

Over 40% of Cimcoop’s optical components are integrated in optoelectronic systems for military applications. Some of the devices where our optics are used include high-end Night Vision Goggles used by several NATO armies, laser range finders and target designators, rifle scopes and others.

A very important part of working in the defense industry supply chain is the ability to fulfill all requirements related to material and batch traceability, proper documentation and testing of the product and experience with various optical quality standards such as ISO 10110 and MIL – PRF – 13830B. Cimcoop is based in Bulgaria, a member of EU and NATO, giving us significant benefit compared to non-EU manufacturers and positioning the company as a supplier of choice for demanding, defense-oriented components. In addition, we are ITAR compliant thanks to a TAA with our US representative – Naked Optics Corporation.

Avionics industry

Aerospace manufacturing is a high-technology industry that produces aircraft, guided missiles, space vehicles, aircraft engines, propulsion units, and related parts. The avionics industry serves both military and civilian purposes. Cimcoop supplies precision optical components to some of the most renowned OEM manufacturers in the aerospace industry. The applications of our products include head-up displays (a.k.a HUDs), head-mounted displays (a.k.a HMDs), electro-optical surveillance payloads and vision systems for commercial aircraft. The aerospace industry follows some of the most strict standards for quality, documentation and testing and being a supplier of such components is a testament to Cimcoop’s commitment to quality.

Cinema and TV broadcasting

Cimcoop delivers a variety of spherical lenses and achromats for some of the world’s leading manufacturers of prime and zoom lenses. The range of applications of these lenses includes, but is not limited to shooting feature-lentgh films, video commercials, television series and documentaries. These applications call for a zero compromise in picture quality. In optical terms, this translates into components with very high optical parameters such as surface quality, surface flatness and are often made of chemically sensitive, high-index optical glass types. Thanks to our state-of-the-art CNC equipment and a seasoned staff, Cimcoop has established itself as a trusted supplier of components for this industry.

Machine vision

Machine vision (MV) is the technology and methods used to provide imaging-based automatic inspection and analysis for such applications as automatic inspection, sorting, material handling, process control and robot guidance in industry. Cimcoop is a provider of precision optical components used in a wide range of machine vision lenses such as telecentric lenses, which allow the image magnification to be independent of the object’s distance or position in the field of view.

Thermal imaging

Thermal imaging has numerous applications in both military and civil environments. In the defense industry, thermal imaging cameras are used by infantry and are mounted on all kinds of vehicles and airplanes to provide vision up to several kilometers away in total darkness. As for civil applications, thermographic cameras are used by firefighters to see through smoke, to find persons, and to localize the base of a fire. Maintenance technicians use thermography to locate overheating joints and sections of power lines, which are a sign of impending failure. Building construction technicians can see thermal signatures that indicate heat leaks in faulty thermal insulation and can use the results to improve the efficiency of heating and air-conditioning units. Cimcoop is a well established supplier of IR optical components and blanks for some of the largest companies in the field of thermal imaging worldwide. We grow high-purity Silicon monocrystal in-house and process it to finished or semi-finished components. Controlling the whole process from the raw material to the finished optical part allows us to achieve high quality at competitive prices.

CO2 lasers

Because of the high power levels available (combined with reasonable cost for the laser), CO2 lasers are widely used in industrial applications for cutting and welding, while lower power level lasers are used for engraving. Cimcoop supplies mirror grade Silicon blanks used for the production of beam delivery and cavity optics by OEM laser manufacturers and producers CO2 laser replacement optics.
